How to paint with lime paint:
Start in the upper corner of the wall
Paint in sections of approximately 45–90 cm
Work from top to bottom
Tips for best results:
The color is darker when wet and brightens when dry
Stir the paint thoroughly:
Before starting
Continuously while painting (otherwise the pigment will sink)
Keep even pressure with the brush
Uneven pressure can give a mottled result
Paint an entire section in one sweep for an even expression
Number of coats:
At least 2 coats recommended
Coat 2 gives:
Depth
Structure
Full coverage
The surface can be up to 50°C (if you can touch it without burning yourself)
On brick the surface must be absorbent
Test: splash water – if absorbed → ready to paint
Some bricks are treated for water repellency and then require pre-treatment
Apply a coat of water-based acrylic primer (without alkyd)
Then you can paint with any paint or wallpaper
Ensures that the paint adheres properly
Lime plaster has been used for thousands of years, already by the Egyptians and Romans
Previously used as an early form of concrete in buildings
Creates durable, strong surfaces that resist moisture and mold
Helps to regulate humidity, perfect for historic buildings
Using lime plaster today connects us to architectural heritage while being durable and timeless
Apply with a brush, followed by a sponge dipped in water to smooth the surface
Due to the thicker consistency of the paint:
Feels heavier when painting
Requires you to reload the brush more often
Use the “X-strokes” technique for a smooth and textured result
Always keep a wet edge to avoid marks
The paint must be thoroughly mixed for even color and texture
Allow the first coat to dry thoroughly before applying the second coat
After the second coat: sponge the surface to soften the brush strokes and bring out the texture
💡 Application tips
Work in sections of approximately 45-90 cm
Start in the corner at the top of the wall and work downwards
The paint looks darker when wet, lightens when dry
For best results result: at least two coats
